The second IdeaSpark Pitchfest engaged individuals with disabilities in developing an entrepreneurial mindset. New Rochelle, N.Y. - Iona University’s Hynes Institute for Entrepreneurship & Innovation partnered with The Viscardi Center -- a nonprofit organization that educates, employs and empowers individuals with disabilities as part of the second annual IdeaSpark program. Nine participants from around the country dedicated eight weeks to develop their entrepreneurial ideas for the chance to win $7,500 in non-equity cash grants. The culmination of their hard work resulted in a PitchFest which took place during Disability Pride Month.

Hempstead, NY - Four Hofstra teams were honored by the Coastal Athletic Association as the baseball, men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, and men's track and field programs received the CAA Team Academic Excellence Award, recognizing the institution with the highest collective grade point average in all 22 sports sponsored by the CAA. Well, that couldn't have gone much worse. Pete Alonso, the betting favorite to win his third Home Run Derby, hit just 12 home runs and was the first player eliminated. What makes Alonso's performance so much worse is that his appearance in the Derby is the only justifiable reason that he was named an NL All-Star. Alonso had said he would only participate in the Home Run Derby if he was an All-Star. This certainly is not what MLB had envisioned. In fact, if MLB knew Alonso would put up this kind of performance, there's a good chance they would've just chosen someone else to participate in the derby and give his All-Star spot to another New York Mets player.
Wanted man indicted for attempted murder of cop
WHITE PLAINS – An Armonk man was indicted for attempted murder of a North Castle police sergeant in May, Westchester County District Attorney Miriam Rocah said Tuesday. Joseph Spennato, 38, was arraigned on an indictment for attempted aggravated murder and attempted aggravated assault on a police officer, both felonies, and a misdemeanor of criminal possession of a weapon.
