Atlanta Symphony returns to Piedmont Park for free concert on Sept. 10

The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will return to Piedmont Park on Tuesday, Sep. 10, at 7:30 p.m. with a free performance on Oak Hill.

William R. Langley conducts the evening’s program, featuring a selection of orchestral favorites and a preview of ASO’s two-season endeavor, the Beethoven Project. Program selections will include movements from Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5, Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade, and works by  Jesse Montgomery and Adolphus Hailstork.

“We’re so pleased to be able to return to Piedmont Park to share great music under the stars each  year,” Jennifer Barlament, the ASO’s Executive Director, said in a press release. “I can’t think of a better way, or a better  place, to kick off the season than a concert for so many of our beloved Atlantans in the jewel in the  crown of Atlanta’s parks.”

Attendees are encouraged to arrive early, as seating with a good view of the stage is first-come, first-served. Admission is free to the public and tickets are not required. There will also be food trucks with beverages and family-friendly activities hosted by the ASO  Education and Community Engagement Department. Pets are not allowed at the performance.

Entering its 80th season, the Grammy Award-winning ASO performance in the park is presented by the Charles Loridans Foundation, Inc.  Major support is provided by the City of Atlanta Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs, Fulton County Arts  and Culture, the Georgia Council for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
