Olean woman killed in Owego motorcycle-semi collision
OWEGO -- An Olean woman was killed Thursday afternoon when the motorcycle she was riding on and a tractor-trailer collided on the Southern Tier Expressway. New York State Police Troop C public information officials reported a motorcycle operated by Steven Myszka, 52, of Olean, and a tractor-trailer collided around 1 p.m. on Thursday while both were traveling east on Route 17 near Owego. The identity of the tractor-trailer driver was not immediately released.
Olean charter commission to stick with mayor-council system
OLEAN — The city charter commission will explore changes to the current government structure, rather than shifting many of the current mayoral powers to a city manager. The city’s charter commission voted 9-2 to continue using the current strong mayor-council type of government — rather than moving to a city manager-council form of government — as a basis while reviewing the city charter for reform, subject to revisions adopted by the panel in the course of its deliberations.

OLEAN — Some local firms and nonprofits were affected by a global outage related to antivirus software on Friday, but most were unaffected. Early Friday morning, the Associated Press reports, a software update issued by cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike affected customers' computers running Microsoft Windows, the most popular operating system worldwide. The outage affected systems nationwide and globally, ranging from delayed border crossings and airline flights to health care facilities returning to paper-based operations and 911 service being down in some states.
State police ID victim of fatal tractor trailer/motorcycle crash on Route 17 near Owego
One person is dead and another injured following a tractor trailer collision with a motorcycle Thursday in Tioga County. New York State Police identified the person who died as Karie L. VanDeusen, 52, of Olean. VanDeusen was a passenger on a motorcycle operated by 52-year-old Steven Myszka, also of Olean, troopers said.
