Punxsy Minors start 1-1 at sectionals
BRADFORD — It was the opening weekend for the Punxsutawney Minor League All-Star baseball team at the Section 1 tournament held at the Bradford Little League Complex this weekend as its weekend games saw the team go 1-1. Punxsy’s first two games were one-run contests as they were on the better end of the result on Saturday, dropping District 1 champion Meadville/Vernon, 8-7, on a walk-off sacrifice fly by Noah Burkett.
Third inning haunts Olean in loss to Dansville

Jones Memorial Hospital birthing center receives donation from local church
WELLSVILLE — The Dr. F. Clifton Miller Birthing Center at Jones Memorial Hospital received a donation of nearly $1,200 from the Andover First Baptist Church. Church members competed in teams — "girls vs. boys" — to collect change May 12 through June 16 for the initiative. In just over a month, the boys raised $603.45, while the girls raised $585.65, thanks to a last-minute donation.
