Thousands will march for trans visibility in D.C. Saturday
Thousands of transgender and nonbinary people — and their allies — will gather in Washington, D.C., Saturday for the National Trans Visibility March. The march, which has been held annually since 2019, focuses on the need for trans visibility in politics as well as society at large. Trans people need to support politicians who support them, contact elected officials, and get involved in grassroots campaigns, the march website notes.

Authorities in Montgomery County are turning to the community in hopes of locating Helen Lin, a 24-year-old resident of Silver Spring, whose absence has triggered concern. Alabama man to face charge of kidnapping teen girl in Springfield
An Alabama man is in custody in Springfield, charged with kidnapping a 13-year-old girl from a Springfield home in late July. Springfield Police Department spokesperson Ryan Walsh said 31-year-old Paul Areliano was arrested in Front Royal, Virginia, where he was being held on a fugitive from justice warrant pending rendition to Massachusetts. On Tuesday, Springfield detectives flew to Virginia to bring Areliano back to face a single count of kidnapping.
Teenager Charged With Arson in Fire That Displaced 43 People; Relief Fund Set Up For Those Who Wish to Donate
Last weekend a devastating fire destroyed an apartment building in Clarksburg. Seventy-five firefighters responded to the scene and assisted several occupants from the building. The fire left 24 apartments uninhabitable and displaced 43 people. Two residents were treated for minor injuries and three family pets were killed. Four firefighters also suffered minor injuries fighting the fire.
