Don’t Fall Victim to the Latest USPS Text Scam Circulating Illinois
We should all know better by now, but I nearly fell victim to a new package delivery text scam the other day, and I don't want the same thing to happen to you. Here's one thing I can guarantee about me; if you call or text me from a number I don't recognize, I will not answer or respond...ever. My notorious call screening usually saves me from phone scammers, BUT, when I have been waiting for over two weeks for Japanese Beetle traps I desperately need to arrive, receiving a text about a delivery issue almost had me falling hook, line, and sinker into the scammer's trap.
IDNR Shuts Down Recreational Boating On Fox River
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources has temporarily shut down recreational boating on the Fox River, according to a letter posted by the IDNR today. High water levels, swift currents, floating debris and submerged structures in the Fox all contributed to the decision, which was recommended by Cpt Joshua Mooi of the IDNR and approved by Director Natalie Phelps-Finnie.

Bloomingdale and Hoffman Estates Men Charged with Hate Crime for Defacing Israeli Flag at Local Grocery Store
Two men are facing charges after an incident at a Bloomingdale grocery store where an Israeli flag was defaced. Tabshir Rizvi, 23, of Bloomingdale, and Mohammed Faroun, 22, of Hoffman Estates, allegedly spray-painted "FREE GAZA" on the flag at Woodman's Food Market late last month, an act the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office is treating as a hate crime.

A Shannon, Ill. woman has been charged with two felonies after allegedly striking an IDOT road repair worker with her car in Marengo. Starlet Stoffel, 30, was driving on U.S. 20 (West Grant Highway) at Park Drive in Marengo at 11 a.m. July 10 when she struck an Illinois Department of Transportation flagman who was controlling traffic at a road repair site, Marengo police said.
