The tripleheader kicked off last Thursday night at the sprawling Bedford Speedway in Bedford, Pennsylvania. Dennis Erb, Jr. finished fifth in his heat race and second in his B-Main to earn the right to start nineteenth on the grid in the $15,000 to win ‘Billy Winn Classic.’ Dennis was then on the move early and often in the 45-lap main event and ultimately blitzed past thirteen competitors on his way to a strong sixth place effort.
Man shot, critically wounded outside Walmart in South Deering
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man was shot and critically wounded outside a Walmart store Friday afternoon in the South Deering neighborhood.Police said, around 3:40 p.m., a 25-year-old man got into a fight with another person in the 10900 block of South Doty Avenue, and the other person pulled out a gun and shot him.The shooting happened outside a Walmart Supercenter store.The victim was shot in the chest and hip, and was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition.No one was in custody Friday afternoon. Area 2 detectives were investigating.

Benefit Concert Planned to Help Illinois Rock Museum Recover From Storm Damage
The storm that ripped through the Joliet area on Sunday morning damaged quite a few buildings in downtown Joliet, including the Illinois Rock and Roll Museum. The huge guitar statue on the fascade — dubbed Gigantar — was not damaged, but the roof was, which has also led to some water damage on the top floor. Thankfully, none of the exhibits were affected, but the costs are adding up to fix the building.

Cook County Donates Over 900 Clothing Items to Aid New Chicago Residents at New Life Center
In a move that speaks to the enduring spirit of community and resourcefulness in the face of closure, Cook County's Department of Facilities Management has made a significant contribution to the New Life Center. Almost 1,000 new articles of clothing, originally from the now-shuttered Oak Forest Campus Long-Term Care Facility, found a new purpose in supporting new arrivals through the "New Vecinos" team's efforts. This donation, detailed in a press release by Cook County, encompasses 866 pairs of shoes and 81 pairs of pants, set aside from the campus which is slated for partial demolition.
