Jul. 26—GRAND COULEE — The Swawilla Fire, ignited by lightning July 17, is located 11 miles east of Grand Coulee and grew to roughly 17,389 acres by Thursday. This Washington Fire Year Really Isn’t Easy!
Current Situation: The Easy Fire is burning through dense timber, dead trees, and ground vegetation on very steep terrain. Activity near State Route 20 has moderated, but there is still fire within the north and south sides of the perimeter. Firefighters, in collaboration with the Washington Department of Transportation (WSDOT), have been clearing debris and fallen trees from the highway.
