Lake City Residents Are Reminded To Place Trash In Garbage Can For Scheduled Pick-Up Days
City officials of Lake City wish to remind residents not to leave trash just placed on the curb for pick up, as trash must be placed in an appropriate bin per city ordinance. During the last city council meeting, Daisy Hauling, who operates the city’s garbage collection services, estimated that nearly 50 percent of Lake City residents do not use a trashcan and just place the bags wishing to be disposed of on the curb. City Administrator Jacob Matthews says the municipal code was created to help keep the Lake City community beautiful, safe, and inviting for all by ensuring waste was adequately secured during trash pick-up days.

EVANSDALE, Iowa (KCRG) - HBO Max is set to release a three-part documentary series about the abduction and deaths of Evansdale cousins Lyric Cook and Elizabeth Collins. OMAHA, Neb. — Nebraska senators heard testimony from different businesses Tuesday on the governor's proposal to reform property taxes and cut spending. Three hearings started at 9:30 a.m. on Legislative Bills 1, 2, and 3. LB 1 is Gov. Jim Pillen's property tax plan, introduced by Sen. Lou Ann Linehan, which calls for hard caps on local spending with some exceptions like public safety and voter-approved bonds. It also calls for eliminating more than one hundred tax exemptions. The plan would cost you more money when you take your pet to the vet or a groomer.

Treasurer Smith Seeks Iowans’ Help Reuniting Lost Purple Heart
DES MOINES, Iowa – State Treasurer Roby Smith is recognizing National Purple Heart Day by asking for Iowans’ help to reunite a Purple Heart held in Great Iowa Treasure Hunt, the State’s program for returning lost and unclaimed property. “I don’t think I can adequately put into words the magnitude of emotions I felt holding a Purple Heart for the first time,” said Smith. “Those same emotions inspire me to reunite Garold Hayes’ family with the Purple Heart found in his abandoned safe deposit box. I call out to Iowans to help us return this medal to the care of his family.” Hayes died in Sept. 2015 at the age of 76.
