Winning pose: Artist on Worcester Common creates portrait of Worcester Olympian Stephen Nedoroscik
WORCESTER — Artist Dave “Croc” O’Connor painted a portrait of Worcester’s favorite pommel horse Olympian, two-bronze medalist Stephen Nedoroscik, on Worcester Common during the Out To Lunch festival and farmers market on Thursday. While music played and children danced, O’Connor attracted a steady crowd that watched him use spray cans to create the likeness of Nedoroscik. The painting is based on a photograph of a celebrating Nedoroscik in Paris, where he earned the nickname Pommel Horse Guy. After 8 years of restoration, Kittery life-saving station is Maine's newest museum
Not far from the crowded beaches of York County, a very different kind of seaside attraction has just opened and is drawing visitors of its own. The Wood Island Life Saving Station Museum, a quarter-mile off Kittery Point, is a 116-year-old, meticulously restored outpost of what was a forerunner to the Coast Guard. From here and other stations, the U.S. Life Saving Service once sent rescue crews, rowing open boats, to aid mariners in peril.

Fla. woman killed in moped crash on Martha's Vineyard, police say
A crash between a moped and a Jeep on Martha's Vineyard Thursday left a woman from Florida dead and two other women hurt, Massachusetts State Police said.
