Sault man charged with sex crimes involving children
SAULT STE. MARIE — A 21-year-old male from Sault Ste. Marie was recently arraigned following an investigation and arrest involving child sexually abusive material. Jacob T. Dumas was arrested after an investigation initiated when it was learned he was viewing files of child sexually abusive material on the internet. A search of his residence resulted in digital evidence being seized.

Fame blooms from Munger artist’s island scene
The annual Mackinac Island Lilac Festival was held last month celebrating the flowers famous on the island. This year one local artist had a hand in promoting the festival. Emily Ryers of Munger had her artwork chosen during a contest used to create a poster promoting the Lilac Festival. Ryers beat out 74 other contestants for the opportunity to have her poster used for festival promotion. The art was also used on a beer can that was sold on the island, and the winner got $1,000. The top 20 entries were chosen by jurors based on rules for the competition. Of those top 20 the jurors then chose the winners. This wasn’t the first time that Ryers tried out for the competition either.
Strongs Prairie Woman Identified As Victim In Friday’s Adams County Crash
STRONGS PRAIRIE, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – A 38-year-old Strongs Prairie woman died and two others were injured in a two-vehicle incident in Adams County on Friday. Around 5:50 p.m. on Friday, the Adams County Sheriff’s Office got a call reporting a two-vehicle crash near the intersection of State Highway 21 and County Highway Z in Strongs Prairie.

St. Marys River oil sheen clean-up finished, source of spill still unknown
UPDATE 7/19/24 1:00 p.m. SAULT STE. MARIE — Clean-up in the St. Marys River wrapped up Friday, four days after a chemical sheen was found on the river. GFL Environmental removed the two sets of floating booms around Kemp Marina and the Museum Ship Valley Camp. The total length of the booms was around 300 feet. Coast Guard officials said mother nature will take care of any remaining traces of sheen. They are still investigating the source of the oily substance.
Oily Sheen On St. Marys River Under Investigation
(Sault Ste. Marie, MI) – The U.S. Coast Guard is working to clear pollution on the St. Marys River in Sault Ste. Marie after getting a report of an oily sheen. They received that report at 5 p.m. Monday and determined it came from about ten gallons of an unknown oily product. A floating boom has been placed in the river.
