RUIDOSO, N.M. (KRQE) – The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is opening a disaster recovery center in Ruidoso to help locals restore their lives after the recent South Fork and Salt fires.

The recovery center is designed to help residents and business owners in Lincoln County, Otero County, and the Mescalero Apache Reservation access federal resources to help with the recovery effort. That includes applying for FEMA assistance and connecting with staff from the U.S. Small Business Administration.

The recovery center can also help locals connect to resources like Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) resources, Medicaid, unemployment claims, mental health support, and child care. FEMA says no appointments are necessary to get help at the recovery center.

The Ruidoso disaster recovery center is open Monday through Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The center is located at the Horton Complex, 237 Service Road, Ruidoso, NM 88345.

Another recovery center is open in Roswell at the Roswell Civic & Convention Center. The operational hours are the same as the Ruidoso location. Both locations will be open on Thursday, July 4, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
