    FEMA offering temporary housing help for Ruidoso wildfire victims

    RUIDOSO, N.M. (KRQE) – Some people who have suffered housing damage due to the recent wildfires near Ruidoso can get temporary housing paid for by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

    FEMA will pay for a temporary stay in a hotel or motel for eligible people. The federal agency will pay the cost of a room, as well as taxes and non-refundable pet fees (up to a pre-approved limit).To access the funds, you must apply to FEMA online at this link . You can also call 800-621-3362 or apply in a disaster recovery center .

    To find an eligible hotel, check this link and enter your FEMA registration number . FEMA will not pay for costs like laundry, room service, movie rental, or parking. The program is available for people in Lincoln County, Otero County, or the Mescalero Apache Reservation with disaster-damaged homes.
