Chaduza Cook Off Ups the Prizes Package for Contestants.
The Valentine Chamber is inviting everyone to be a part of the 7th Annual Chaduza Cook-Off on September 7th in the Valentine City Park. They will have room for 15 Pit Masters. Valentine Chamber of Commerce will provide the meat which will be available for pick-up the evening before. Categories will include Beef, Pork and Chicken with a special side dish category as well. Winners in the meat classes will receive 175 dollars in chamber bucks. Second place is 150 dollars and 3rd place is 125 dollars. The chamber will serve burgers to the public starting at 11AM.The public will also have an opportunity to sample all the meats prepared by contestants and vote for peoples choice. Raffle items include a Halo grill from Reese Propane and a Henry Golden Boy Rifle from Tooth and Whisker Outdoors. There will also be a cornhole tournament with registration starting at 10AM with entry fee of $50 per team and 100% pay out and $750 added money. There will be a live music concert that evening in the Park with Jenni Dale Lord performing from 8 to 10PM. The date again is September 7th. They will also have the Husker game on TV that evening.

Nebraska Governor declares August 25-31 Drug Overdose Awareness Week
LINCOLN Neb. — Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen has declared August 25-31 as Nebraska Drug Overdose Awareness Week. “We can all be part of the solution by supporting programs in our communities, helping to spread awareness about overdose and Fentanyl poisoning, talking to our children about the dangers of fake pills, properly disposing and storing medications and carrying lifesaving Narcan. August 31st was established as International Drug Overdose Awareness Day to increase public knowledge about the severity of drug overdose, and Nebraska Drug Overdose Awareness Week is aimed at letting people know how they can help and remember those who have been lost to drug overdose and Fentanyl poisonings in our state,” said Amy Holman, Project Coordinator for the Nebraska Pharmacists Association.

Falls City Council takes no action on two downtown buildings
