Mutual of Omaha Construction at Night
Brad Williams captured a long-exposure photograph yesterday of the tower crane operating near 14th & Dodge Street. Work proceeded after dark last night on Mutual of Omaha’s future headquarters tower. Located at 14th & Farnam Street, the future 44-story building is scheduled for completion in 2026. The 800,000 sq. ft. building will be 677 feet tall.

Fox in Lincoln Tests Positive for Rabies
LINCOLN–(KFOR July 19)–A fox has tested positive for rabies, the first one confirmed in Lincoln. Lincoln-Lancaster County Animal control says the fox came in contact with a dog and was injured. The fox showed signs of illness. Rabies is caused by a virus that affects the nervous system and is transmitted by the bite of an infected animal or if saliva from an animal with rabies gets directly into an open wound or a person’s eyes, nose, or mouth.

The Nebraska arm of Western Specialty Contractors, a nearly 110-year-old firm with 32 locations, is gaining more heft as leadership invests in the four walls of the Omaha branch at 145th and Grover streets, as well as new equipment to support a crew that has grown by upwards of 166% since 2022.
