Ryan Shanell Mitchell, 37, of Fayetteville, is an assistant principal at Terry Sanford High School. She was nominated for 40 Under 40 because "of her motivation and passion to empower teachers and serve students," nominator Sharon Mitchell writes. "As an advocate for educators, she has served in many capacities. She developed a new/beginning teacher induction model for new/beginning teachers and served as the administrator intern to facilitate the transition into their new role. In addition, as the School Improvement Team leader, she was instrumental in development to support and develop the school goals, vision and mission. Ms. Mitchell is committed and celebrates diversity to ensure equity and equality to all learners despite race, gender and socioeconomic status. Personnel for South Iredell Fire – Rescue along with Mooresville, Shepherds, Mount Mourne and Atwell fire departments responded to a structure fire off Oak Brook Drive near Mooresville on Wednesday morning. “Strike at the Wind!” returns this summer to the newly renovated Adolph Dial Amphitheater at the Lumbee Tribe Cultural Center for six shows. The legendary play, which chronicles the life of Henry Berry Lowrie, will be performed July 18-20 and July 25-27. The amphitheater has undergone significant upgrades, including new stadium seating, walkways, lighting and a stage.
Excel Interior Door relocating operations to North Carolina
RALEIGH, N.C. — Excel Interior Door, a manufacturer of residential doors, is leaving its Alabama roots to relocate in Winston-Salem, N.C. The company plans to invest $10.5 million on a new manufacturing facility and administrative office. Excel Interior Door received a performance-based grant of $75,000 from the One North Carolina Fund to help with its relocation to North Carolina. The One NC Fund provides financial assistance to local governments to help attract economic investment and create jobs.
