Lumberton theater seeks regional talent for Christmas show
LUMBERTON — The Carolina Civic Center Historic Theater in downtown Lumberton will hold auditions for its 13th Annual “Robeson County Christmas Show” original production. Directed by the theater’s resident artist, Kendrix Singletary, the show is a “heart-warming,” holiday musical revue for the entire family. The show features a regional cast of singers and dancers, including a youth ensemble, the “Civettes,” and featured vocalists. The show has become one of the most popular Christmas events in the region, and has been featured on UNC-TV’s “Carolina Weekend.”
Fayetteville sues Stadium View Apartments, parking garage developers

GWU receives grant that will help digitize Cleveland County's historical documents
Gardner-Webb University’s Dover Library recently received a $42,000 grant from the State Library of North Carolina. The money will be used to digitize historical church records on microfilm and documents in the Cleveland County Historical Collection. The project is a joint effort of Dover Library, and the Earl Scruggs Center Museum and Broad River Genealogical Society, both in Shelby.

CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — A Catawba County mother is charged with murder in connection with the death of her 9-month-old daughter, investigators said. The Catawba County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a suspicious person in the area of Section House Road around 5 a.m. on Friday, July 12.
