RUSH TOWNSHIP – Firefighters from Arrowhead Joint Fire District and Warwick Township Volunteer Fire Department worked to extinguish two separate brush fires along Edwards Road SE in Rush Township on Tuesday afternoon.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., a number of fire calls were handled by the Tuscarawas County Sheriff's Department dispatch. One fire was small, and relegated to farmland – likely caused by a cigarette, according to fire officials on scene.

The other fire, about a half mile up the road was a little larger and caused by downed powerlines mostly in the brush between crops and the roadway. Firefighters made quick work of that fire as well.

A deputy from the sheriff's department assisted, and AEP was called.

    No injuries were reported.
