False fall, second summer? DC region heats back up with temps in the 90s this week
WASHINGTON - Are we starting "second summer?" It sure feels that way!. As autumn approaches (less than a month away!), residents of the D.C, Maryland, and Virginia region are experiencing what is colloquially known as a "second summer." This weather phenomenon brings a resurgence of unseasonably warm temperatures to the area typically when it should be cooling down. Often, it makes it feel like summer is making an unexpected return.

Rich Creek police looking for missing 74-year-old man
RICH CREEK, Va. (WSET) — The Rich Creek Police Department (RCPD) said they are looking for a missing 74-year-old. Police said they are looking forDuane Doherty. According to police, Doherty was last seen leaving his residence on Friday in a red Toyota Rav 4 with Virginia Handicap plates 3042ZF. He advised his family he was going to Wisconsin to see a sick friend. His family had been unable to make contact with him.
Man arrested after shots fired in Wytheville
WYTHEVILLE, Va. – A man was arrested after reports of shots fired in Wytheville on Friday, according to Wytheville Police Department. Wytheville Police Department said officers arrived at the 300/400 block of Cove Road after reports of shots fired late at night on Friday. After patrolling the area, officers made contact with a woman who claimed to be the suspect’s girlfriend. She reported that she and the suspect were arguing outside of the home when he pulled out a handgun and fired multiple shots into the air. She then drove him to the area around the TA Truck Stop and Circle K Gas Station on Peppers Ferry Road, where he then exited the vehicle.
