Playland Park will have Saturday ferry tours on Aug. 17 and 31 that take people sightseeing along the Sound Shore, as a historian provides lore on Gilded Age mansions, the first U.S. Supreme Court chief justice’s home, one of the earliest movie studios, and whaling boats’ hiding spots.

Playland, in Rye, and NY Waterway are teaming up to provide the new ferry tours to Mamaroneck along the shore, a news release said.

Barbara Davis, Westchester County Historical Society co-director and New Rochelle’s historian, will lead the hour-long voyages “complete with local lore involving the childhood home of John Jay, the first chief justice of the Supreme Court and one of America’s earliest film studios owned by D.W. Griffith,” according to the release.

Passengers will catch Long Island Sound views as the tour expounds on Colonial mills, extant yacht clubs and the country’s earliest suburbs.

Run by NY Waterway, the roundtrip tours will operate twice each on Aug. 17 and Aug 31., leaving from Playland Pier at 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. each day. Boarding starts 15 minutes before. Buy the $15 tickets at Playland's website.

    Each ferry holds 240 passengers.

Playland’s usual ferry service from New York City will also be available on both days, stopping at Manhattan’s East 34 th and 90 th streets and the Bronx’s Ferry Point before arriving at Playland.
