    The El Capitan Theatre located in Hollywood, California, is a historic structure which features entertaining films.

    The El Capitan Theatre, along with the Egyptian, and Chinese Theatres were built in the 1920s by real estate developer Charles Toberman.

    Being dubbed as "Hollywood's First Home of Spoken Drama," the El Capitan Theatre opened on May 3, 1926, as the largest legitimate theatre in Hollywood. The 1,550 seat threatre was filled with stars for the play Charlot's Revue, which starred Jack Buchanan, Gertrude Lawrence, and Beatrice Lillie.

    The theatre had the premier of the film Citizen Kane on May 8, 1941.

    The El Capitan was closed for renovation for two months and reopened in March 1942 as a new, streamlined first run movie house.

    It had a two year renovation in 1989 after which it reopened on June 19, 1991, for the world premiere of Walt Disney Pictures' The Rocketeer.

    The El Capitan Theatre will be featuring Deadpool and Wolverine from July 26, through August 11, 2024. Check the website for times of the showings.
