The official start of Hispanic Heritage Month in the United States is September 15, but an event to start the occasion was held in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Saturday, September 14, 2024.

The free event held at The Gateway in Salt Lake City presented an opportunity to explore and appreciate the diversity of Latinx/Hispanic cultures.

It started with a parade. The Latinx Hispanic Health and Heritage Fair went on from noon to 8:30 PM on Saturday along Rio Grande Street at The Gateway.

Many people enjoyed the food, music, dance, and clothing of more than thirty countries which were represented. There were booths from organizations promoting health and wellness.

Some of the organizers included The University of Utah Health the Utah JAZZ, and Take Care Utah.

Hispanic Heritage Month will continue until October 15. It is meant to focus on the rich Hispanic history and culture.
