Spring Rio Grande turkey season begins March 16

Spring turkey season is just around the corner. The upcoming season is divided by the following zones:

* Rio Grande - North Zone: Mar. 30 - May 12, 2024 * Rio Grande - South Zone: Mar. 16 - Apr. 28, 2024 * Rio Grande - Special 1 Turkey Bag Limit: Apr. 1 - 30, 2024 * Eastern Turkey (12 counties only): April 22 - May 14, 2024 (Bowie, Cass, Fannin, Grayson, Jasper, Lamar, Marion, Nacogdoches, Newton, Polk, Red River and Sabine counties)

Campbell, Frankens rock ‘Rayburn, 39.52

Shaine Campbell and Wyatt Frankens weighed in a five-bass limit of 39.52 pounds to top 177 teams in the March 2 Bass Champs event on Sam Rayburn. The limit was anchored by a 10.15 pounder. They won $36,700.

Hayden Heck and Ken Berthelot took second with 31.27 pounds, $10,000.

Pitt nets 34.98 in solo win

Cody Pitt fished solo and won the March 2 Fishers of Men team event on Toledo Bend with a single-day catch of 34.98 pounds on five fish. He won $10,000.

Billy and Zane Parker took second with 34.75 pounds, followed by Tater Reynolds and George Jean, Jr. with 34.39 pounds.
