The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office says it found the body of 38 year-old Christopher Plowman, 38, of Tiffin, on Wednesday in a pond at Pleasant Valley Golf Course in Iowa City. New Hampton Swimming Pool Forced to Close For Rest of Season
The New Hampton Swimming Pool has been forced to shut down early for the remainder of the season. A New Hampton Swimming Pool Facebook post says the facility had to be closed effective immediately after a pair of glass pool goggles shattered in the pool on Monday (08.120. The notice added, “Because of the glass, we must follow protocol and drain the pool. Unfortunately, it takes a few days to be able to safely drain the pool, clean it, refill, and apply start up chemicals. Due to the timeline, we (Park-Rec Department) had to make the difficult decision to close the pool for the 2024 season. We greatly apologize for the inconvenience.”
Nichols Christian draws enthusiastic vacation bible school crowd
A large crowd attended the SCUBA Vacation Bible School program at the Nichols Christian Church on Aug. 4. The children sang and danced to songs learned during the week.
