The Le Mars city council heard a report on flood impacts at their meeting Tuesday. Fire Rescue Chief Dave Schipper said the main concern was keeping the city waste treatment plant in operation during the flood. He said the employees there were isolated at the facility for a while, but kept operations going, and the flood did not overwhelm the city’s waste treatment system. If it had, sewage backup would have affected many homes in the city. The flood did damage the small screen in the waste treatment plant, and it will be an expensive repair – some 250-thousand dollars.
Summit proposes August and September meetings for pipeline extensions
Summit Carbon Solutions has proposed new public informational meeting dates for 23 counties that would span about four weeks. The company that recently gained approval from state regulators for its carbon dioxide pipeline system in Iowa wants to proceed with expansion requests for that system starting in late August.

SPENCER, Iowa (KTIV) - The Northwest Iowa town of Spencer is still rebuilding after it was hit with historically high flood waters that damaged homes and infrastructure. As residents begin the long process of returning things to normal, Spencer has launched its new “Recovery Resource Hub.” This website is meant to be a one-stop shop providing the most up-to-date information for anyone who needs it. The hub has information on how to donate and volunteer to help the people of Spencer, what resources are available for residents and a section for frequently asked questions.
Mason City Library tax levy in danger

The moratorium was almost extended, but the bill failed to make it out of the Iowa Senate this last session.
