Spencer business owner discusses recent flood event
Residents in communities like Spencer are now in recovery mode since flooding caused major damage in the last two weeks. Brock Storm lives in Everly, but has a business along the banks of the Little Sioux River in Spencer. Storm, who has relatives in the broadcast area, tells Radio on the Go News the heavy rain caused the river to rise very rapidly on the night of June 21st.

Spencer Man Facing Felony Domestic Assault Charge
–A Spencer man is facing a felony charge after being taken into custody early Wednesday morning at ABATE Park. According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies responded to a request for assistance at ABATE Park around 3:30 AM Wednesday. After conducting a brief investigation, Deputies arrested 26-year-old Austin David Chinn of Spencer on a charge of Domestic Abuse Assault—Impeding Air/Blood Flow Causing Bodily Injury, a Class D Felony.
National Guard helps haul away flood debris
Members of the Iowa Air National Guard’s 185th Refueling Wing in Sioux City have been helping residents in western Iowa remove flood debris. Major Daniel Ress says they have the equipment needed to do the job. “We can’t rebuild the city for them, we can’t bring anything back to the way it was before, but we can offer just a little bit of helping hand that makes a difference,” he says.

Rapid Speedway Suspends Season; Major Modifications To 2024 Lyon County Fair
Rock Rapids, Iowa — A popular northwest Iowa race track has made a tough decision and has suspended races for the rest of the season. According to Rapid Speedway officials in Rock Rapids, due to the record flooding in the area in June, the races at Rapid Speedway have been suspended until further notice. At last report, large portions of the track remained underwater, and the fence was completely gone.
New Iowa traffic cameras law puts Dubuque’s plan on hold
DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG) - Dubuque’s plans to install automatic traffic enforcement cameras will have to wait until at least 2026. A new Iowa law limiting how cities and counties can use traffic cameras went into effect July 1st. It creates standards for citations drivers can receive and puts a two year moratorium on new traffic cameras.
