WEST BALDWIN, ME — Gold Award Girl Scout from West Baldwin, Olivia Marion, recently received $5,000 in scholarship funding from the Girl Scouts of the United States of America (GSUSA) for her outstanding 2023 Gold Award project. Town of Porter seeks Office Assistant
Town of Porter is seeking applicants to fill the position of Office Assistant. Responsibilities will include assisting with the collection of taxes, respond to taxpayer inquiries regarding taxes, preparation and execution of motor vehicle registrations, transfers and other transactions required by State law for motor vehicles and trailers as well as assisting with issuing birth and death certificates, marriage licenses, dog licenses, absentee ballots, and game licenses. Assistance with elections, preparation of reports for the town and various state agencies, attend Select Board meetings and record minutes of the proceedings, as needed. This position requires public contact, the handling of money, a high level of professionalism, a positive image, and the ability to handle a multitude of tasks to ensure the public is served efficiently and effectively.
Grant awarded in Hiram to build remote working space
Hiram, Maine – Soldiers Memorial Library has been awarded a Remote Work Through Libraries Grant from the Maine State Library. The grant allows them to purchase new computers and printers, and to create new workstations in the Library. Heat pumps have been installed to create a more efficient and comfortable working space, and in the spring a pavilion will be constructed between the Library and the Arts Center for easy Wi-Fi access when the library is closed.
