Another local brand will be joining the Sacramento International Airport. Magpie Cafe , a Sacramento-based farm-to-table restaurant, is among the new vendors coming to the airport over the next two years. A timeline previously published on ABC suggests that Magpie is anticipated to open in Q3 of 2025 .

“Magpie is landing at Terminal A in The Sacramento International Airport- All hours, full service, bar, breakfast and Sacramento Style. Let’s Fly!” The business posted on Instagram with a screenshot of the space rendering, showing a full dining area with lounge sofa and individual seating.

Established by Sacramento natives Ed Roher and Janel Inouye in 2005, Magpie Cafe started as a catering company and opened in its original location on R Street in 2009. Today, Magpie Cafe occupies the beautiful space across from Fremont Park on 16th Street. The restaurant features a robust menu that changes based on the restaurant’s partnering farmers and peak-season ingredient availabilities and a full bar serving seasonal cocktails, spritzes, wines and beers, and a handful of non-alcoholic mixed drinks.

The airport Magpie location will be a licensed location operated by HMSHost. The location is set to open between the second and third quarters in 2025, alongside two other local brands in Terminal A: New Helvetia Brewing Company and Centro Cocina Mexicana .

“A fixture of Sacramento’s dining scene, Magpie will bring food reflective of the cultural and agricultural bounties of California’s Central Valley to Terminal A at SMF. Here, travelers will have the chance to enjoy farm-to-table fare that celebrates what makes the city and region special,” said HMSHost in a press release .
