Malik Monk enjoyed the best season of his career in 2023-24. According to reports, he’s about to get rewarded for it.

It was reported on Thursday that Monk will sign a multi-year deal to return to the Sacramento Kings. Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN shared the terms on X (formerly Twitter).

“ESPN Sources: Free agent G Malik Monk intends to sign a four-year, $78 million deal — including a player option — to return to the Sacramento Kings,” Wojnarowski reported . “Monk had career-bests of 15 points and five assists on his way to the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year runner-up.”

In two years with the Kings, Monk has averaged 14.4 points, 4.5 assists and 2.8 rebounds a game while shooting 44.6% from the field, 35.4% on threes and 85,9% on free throws. Monk has been used exclusively as a sixth man in Sacramento, averaging 24.1 minutes a game.

Monk’s joining the Kings also coincided with the team playing much better. After missing the playoffs in 16 consecutive seasons, Sacramento won the Pacific Division and 2022-23 and reached the Play-in Tournament in 2023-24.

Monk finished fifth in Sixth Man of the Year voting in 2022-23 and second in 2023-24, behind only Naz Reid of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
