NEW ORLEANS ( WGNO ) — The Sacramento Kings are actively working to acquire the player that helped the New Orleans Pelicans knock them out of playoff contention.

Sports reporter Sean Cunningham with KTXL Fox 40, our sister station in Sacramento, was the first to report that the Kings have been in contact with the Pelicans about a trade for Brandon Ingram.

Ingram pieced together a 24-point, 6-rebound, 6-assist performance in a 105-98 Play-In Tournament win over the Kings that clinched the 8th spot in the Western Conference playoff field.

The Pelicans were swept by No. 1 Oklahoma City in the opening round.

Brandon Ingram appeared in 64 games during the 2023-24 season, the most he’s played with the Pelicans since joining the team in July of 2019.

Ingram averaged 20.8 points, 5.7 assists, and 5.1 rebounds last year.

He is entering the final year of his current contract and is set to make $36 million in the 2024-25 season. Ingram is currently eligible for a 4 year, $208 million extension.

Former New Olreans Pelicans’ head coach Alvin Gentry, who coached Ingram in New Orleans, is currently the Sacramento Kings’ Vice President of Basketball Engagement.
