    With Sacramento scorching, these weather maps show scale of Northern California heat wave

    As a major heat wave sets in over Northern California, forecast to last into next week, public agencies are warning of danger from extreme heat risk and reminding residents to practice heat safety .

    With the Fourth of July holiday coinciding with the heat wave, state fire officials also said people should be especially careful with setting off fireworks , in light of particularly fire-prone weather conditions.

    Here are some maps from the National Weather Service to help paint a picture of the upcoming weather conditions.

    Inland area of Northern California will see a high of 111 degrees on Wednesday.

    Though every day will see highs over 100 degrees, Wednesday is expected to be the hottest day.

    Gusty winds

    Wind gusts will develop in the Sacramento Valley through Wednesday, combining with a low humidity that will lead to critical fire conditions.

    Red flag warnings are in place for a large interior swath of Northern California stretching from Redding to Fairfield.

    Nights will also see very warm temperatures through the end of the week.

    • Looking out for others, such as family members and friends.
