(FOX40.COM) — The annual California Classic is returning this weekend with an expanded format, taking place in two cities for the first time.
The Sacramento Kings and Golden State Warriors will host games in their respective venues and will meet in the event’s final matchup for the newly announced Mitch Richmond trophy.
Summer League rosters were recently announced from participating teams and there are a couple of players with Sacramento ties.
Jordan Ford
The Kings have two separate California Classic rosters for each venue and one of those rosters includes Sacramento-area native Jordan Ford.
Ford is a member of the Kings’ California Classic roster for their games at the Chase Center. The 26-year-old guard from Folsom spent time in Sacramento and Stockton last season on a two-way contract with the Kings.
The former Folsom High Bulldog appeared in six games with the Sacramento squad during the 2023-24 season. Ford was a standout for the St. Mary’s Gaels (2016-20) prior to his professional basketball career.
Terrell spent time with the Kings G League team for two seasons from 2021 to 2023. The Sacramento-born guard is a graduate of Sacramento High School and went on to play at the college level for the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos.
After three years at UC Santa Barbara (2016-19), Terrell returned to his hometown to play for the Sacramento State Hornets (2020-21).
The Kings released their roster for the California Classic on Wednesday, fielding a team of 12 players for each location. Click or tap here to view the full rosters.
Players listed on the Golden 1 Center roster include Keon Ellis, former Gonzaga star Drew Timmie, Isaac Jones, Isaiah Crawford, and Mason Jones.
Stockton Kings guard Dane Goodwin is one of the players listed on the Chase Center roster. Jawad Williams is the head coach of the Chase Center team.
The Golden 1 Center team will be coached by former Kings player Doug Christine. Assistant coaches include Stockton Kings head coach Lindsey Harding and former NBA guard Leandro Barbosa.
