    Sacramento-area 911 calls skyrocket during Fourth of July holiday, report shows

    (FOX40.COM) — The number of 911 calls that came into Sacramento-area dispatch centers on the Fourth of July was significantly higher than in previous years, according to the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District.

    On July 5, Metro Fire released its total number of 911 calls received in the area over the holiday. Sacramento dispatchers responded to 1,465 calls in one day. In 2023, the total count was 1,011- a 45% increase, according to Metro Fire.

    For perspective, Metro Fire said the number of 911 calls combined between departments in Sacramento, Folsom, Cosumnes, Herold, River Delta, Wilton, Walnut Grove, Courtland, and Isleton, is 2,500 in total.
