    DeMar DeRozan.

DeMar DeRozan is an unrestricted free agent. The mid-range assassin is expected to leave the Chicago Bulls. According to Fox40 News' Sean Cunningham, the veteran forward and the Sacramento Kings share a "mutual interest."

The Athletic's Shams Charania has also reported that DeRozan is traveling to Northern California to meet with the Kings over the weekend.

There's no doubt that DeRozan would provide the additional firepower Sacramento needs. The Kings have consistently improved since Mike Brown took over as head coach. DeRozan's mid-range scoring and secondary playmaking would ease the pressure on De'Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis. He would also easily slot into a tertiary scoring role.

If the Kings are willing to adjust their offensive approach to help integrate DeRozan, his addition would be a significant step forward for the franchise. They would have three proven offensive talents who all provide effort on the defensive end. DeRozan would also provide a different dynamic on offense, utilizing the space Sacramento's Fox and Sabonis' dribble-handoff consistently generates.

However, if Brown is expecting DeRozan to slot into the Kings' current style of play, the fit is certainly questionable. DeRozan has proven himself durable in recent years, but the aging process is undefeated. Asking him to play at a high pace is a risky move, especially when his postseason production will be vital to the franchise's chances of making a deep run.

DeRozan is the type of veteran Sacramento needs, but it must be willing to make some changes to incorporate him. If both sides are satisfied with how their potential partnership works, we will likely hear of him signing with the Kings in the coming days. If not, DeRozan will have no shortage of interested parties elsewhere around the league.
