On Saturday, the Sacramento Kings made a blockbuster deal by acquiring DeMar DeRozan in a sign-and-trade with the Chicago Bulls.

Shortly after, the Kings made a free agent signing by bringing in Jordan McLaughlin, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

"Free agent guard Jordan McLaughlin has agreed to a one-year deal with the Sacramento Kings, agent Greg Lawrence of @wassbasketball tells ESPN."

McLaughlin has spent his entire career with the Minnesota Timberwolves, so the Kings will be a new chapter as he becomes the backup to De'Aaron Fox.

The former USC guard will form a solid bench duo with Malik Monk, and it's a key addition for the Kings.

McLaughlin's numbers in Minnesota didn't exactly jump off the page as he averaged just 3.5 PPG with a pair of assists in a limited role. But, the Wolves had Mike Conley and others preventing McLaughlin from getting more minutes.

In another interesting wrinkle, both DeRozan and McLaughlin are former USC Trojans and now team up in Sacramento. Moreover, McLaughlin's career 36-percent mark from three-point land is also a plus for the Kings.

The Timberwolves drafted Rob Dillingham out of Kentucky, so McLaughlin's time seemed to be at an end after the NBA Draft. Now, he stays in the Western Conference and joins the Kings.
