(KTXL) – The MLB Draft began on Sunday, and with the No. 30 overall pick the Texas Rangers selected Malcolm Moore, a catcher out of Stanford University.

Moore is from Sacramento, a 2022 graduate of McClatchy High School.

Malcolm Moore spent two seasons as the Cardinal’s catcher. In 2024, he hit .255 with 16 home runs and 36 RBI.

At McClatchy, Moore was the nation’s top-ranked catcher, according to Perfect Game (and the No. 27 overall position player). According to MLB.com, he is “one of the top left-handed college hitters in the country, combining the ability to drive the ball to all fields with plus raw power.”

The slot value for the No. 30 pick in the 2024 MLB Draft is $2.97 million.
