    Child and man discovered dead inside Sacramento apartment fire

    (FOX40.COM) – Two people are dead after an apartment fire in Sacramento on Monday, according to the Sacramento Fire Department.

    Around 3:45 p.m., firefighters responded to an apartment fire on the 5400 block of Mack Road in South Sacramento. Upon arrival, crews discovered “heavy fire” coming from two apartment units on the second floor of the apartment complex.

    Officials originally reported that everyone escaped the fire without injury, however, further investigation led to a young girl and a man who were found dead inside.

    “Our hearts go out to the family during this devastating news,” Sacramento Fire said .

    The cause of the fire is under investigation.
