(FOX40.COM) — As if a return to triple-digits wasn’t enough for Northern California, the National Weather Service is forecasting that wildfire smoke will also begin settling in the region.

On Friday, NWS Sacramento shared that starting Friday and carrying on through the weekend, light smoke will likely settle throughout the Sacramento Valley and into the Sierra Nevada.

Forecast mapping shows that the worst time for the Sacramento region will be 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday as a large smoke plume moves southeast through Northern California.

A pocket of dense smoke is forecasted to develop in southern Sutter County at around 5 p.m. and extend into southern Placer County and eastern Sacramento County, according to NWS mapping.

It appears that this smoke is being blown in from Hill Fire in Humboldt County, the Shelly Fire in Siskiyou County and the Falls Fire burning in eastern Oregon.
