    Sacramento Banana Festival returns for 13th annual edition

    (FOX40.COM) — The Sacramento Banana Festival is back for its 13th edition, bringing to Land Park a weekend event that celebrates the world’s cultures from Africa, Asia and the Americas for whom the banana represents much more than food.

    The multicultural event is two days of music, performances, artisan vendors, contests, games and of course, all the different ways that a banana can be crafted into meals, desserts and other edible creations.

    When: August 17, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and August 18, from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

    Where: On the eastern side of Land Park, 3855 E. Park Rd. Sacramento CA 95822

    How much: Tickets for the festival are as follows:
    • Adults: $8 advance, $10 at the door
    • Children, seniors and military: $6 advance, $8 at the door
    • Children 5 and younger: free

    Vendors and performers: The festival still accepts applications for food and retail vendors. Those interested as vendors can apply at this link , and those interested as performers can apply at this link . Festival organizers will be in touch with applicants.

    Banana food: The event’s website lists dozens of different foods that include bananas that will be available, including appetizers, drinks, desserts and even classic meals that will include bananas.

    Who benefits: The Sacramento Banana Festival is one of the ways that the non-profit National Academic Youth Corps provides art and nutritional education, work readiness and entrepreneurial preparation to children, teens and young adults.
