Man dies after being hit by a car in Sacramento County
ORANGEVALE, Calif. — A man died after being hit by a car in Orangevale on Monday. The California Highway Patrol said around 7:50 a.m., a man was standing on the center median of Hazel Avenue, south of Greenback Lane. A woman was driving a Ford Fusion southbound on Hazel Avenue, through the intersection of Greenback Lane.

Inmate dies at Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center, autopsy ordered
SACRAMENTO, California — A 41-year-old male inmate died while in custody at the Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center (RCCC) late Friday night. The inmate, who had been in custody since March 28, 2024, on a felony warrant brought by the Sacramento Police Department, was housed in the Christopher Boone Facility (CBF). According to a press release from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office, deputies were alerted by an inmate worker that another inmate needed medical assistance.
