Lost Pet Fees Waived Through July 15th
While fireworks and holiday events are great for humans, the loud noises can be frightening for pets who may flee or run away. In order to quickly reunite scared, stray animals with their owners, Sacramento County’s Bradshaw Animal Shelter is waiving owner redemption fees through July 15, 2024, except for animals in any ongoing investigation, and confiscated or quarantined animals.
Sacramento County inmate dies in custody
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A 41-year-old man died while in custody at Sacramento County's Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center Friday night, sheriff's office officials said. Around 11:15 p.m., Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies say they were alerted by an inmate worker about another inmate needing medical assistance. When they got to the locked cell, deputies found the man unresponsive.

Man taken to hospital after south Sacramento shooting
A man is in the hospital with life-threatening injures after being shot in south Sacramento on Saturday. The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office said the man was shot in the torso at least two times at a residence on Whisperwillow Drive, off of Stockton Boulevard. The shooting happened around 5:50 p.m.
