North Country woman killed in two-car crash in Grand Isle
Grand Isle, VT- A two-car crash is under investigation in Grand Isle after a North Country woman died from her injuries Tuesday night. Police say a Toyota Yaris driven by Shantel Lafountain, 26, from Champlain, NY, rear-ended a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a man from Clark, NJ. Both drivers were brought to UVM Medical Center for treatment, and Lafountain died at the hospital. The New Jersey man suffered minor injuries.

New York woman, 26, killed in Vermont crash, police say
A 26-year-old New York woman was killed in a crash in Grand Isle, Vermont, on Tuesday, according to authorities. Troopers responded to a two-car crash just before 6 p.m. in the area of 32 US Route 2, Vermont State Police said, where they found a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee with rear-end damage and a 2010 Toyota Yaris with front-end damage.

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - Police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found floating in Lake Champlain but say they do not believe it is suspicious. History of the Keeseville Volunteer Fire Department
Edwin Venette says he conjectures the KVFD was either the first or second volunteer department in New York and possibly the country. — KEESEVILLE | On July 17 some 50 persons, many of whom were relatives or descendants of Keeseville firemen or emergency medical service personnel, attended a presentation on the history of the Keeseville Volunteer Fire Department (KVFD) at its headquarters. The primary presenter is himself sort of historic. He was Edwin Venette, a 50-year member and former chief of the KVFD. Today he is a member of the Board of Fire Commissioners for the Ausable-Chesterfield-Keeseville Joint Fire District. It covers 150 square miles and is headquartered at 8 Pleasant St., Keeseville. The presentation was presented in conjunction with volunteers from the Anderson Falls Heritage Society in Keeseville.
Remains believed to be those of missing Enosburg woman
Human remains found Sunday in a wooded area in Enosburg are believed to be those of 82-year-old Roberta Martin, who was reported missing last week. The remains were located around 11 a.m. off Sand Hill Road, not far from Martin’s home on Butternut Hollow Road. They will be sent to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington.
