Timothy Bates, 77, of Burlington, Vt., peacefully left us for distant shores on June 19, 2024. Although he fought successfully for decades against a dysfunctional immune system, by January fungus in his blood stream led to multiple complications throughout his body. Toward the end, his weak heart muscles challenged his ability to breathe.
Boho Baby gets 2nd location; Outlet space comes to St. Albans
ST. ALBANS CITY — After growing Boho Baby over the last decade, owner Lisa Golding found she had too many baby clothes and not enough space. Boho Baby Outlet – a new St. Albans store started by Golding this past June – is supposed to help solve the issue as Golding brings her popular baby-focus retail store up north.
Obituary: Richard "Rick" Phillips, 1960-2024
It is with heavy hearts we share that Richard “Rick” Phillips lost his long and difficult battle with glioblastoma on July 16, 2024. He left this world surrounded and comforted by those who loved him. Even while facing what he knew was an incurable cancer, Rick wanted to be an inspiration to the people around him by embracing life, living with gratitude, and facing his illness with grace, dignity and courage. For those of us privileged to walk this journey with him, we can attest that he surpassed those goals.
UMaine Extension offers biosecurity workshop for livestock farmers
AUGUSTA – Biosecurity is the featured topic at the 2024 Tri-State Dairy Summer Workshop hosted by University of Maine Cooperative Extension on Thursday, August 1 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Klahr Center classroom, University of Maine at Augusta, 46 University Drive. This event is a collaboration between UMaine Extension, University of Vermont, and University of New Hampshire.

The 2024 Vermont State 4-H Horse Show attracted 35 competitors July 12-14 to the Champlain Valley Exposition fairgrounds in Essex Junction. Sponsored by UVM Extension 4-H, the official show judge was Heath Gunnison from Lexington, Kentucky, a former Vermont 4-H member. Another former 4-H’er, Jessie Bachmann-Lertola, Ira, judged the fitting and showmanship and trail classes.
