Former St. Albans High School girls’ basketball coach under investigation

ST. ALBANS, WV (WOWK) — St. Albans High School girls’ basketball coach Ricky Steele is no longer the coach at the school, Kanawha County Schools officials said on Tuesday. At the same time, St. Albans Police Chief Marc Gilbert told 13 News there is an ongoing investigation into Steele.

Chief Gilbert did not say what Steele is under investigation for. He said this investigation is ongoing and they do not release information on active cases.

Briana Warner, Communications Director for Kanawha County Schools, said the district is aware of allegations and that they, “cannot comment on personnel matters.” Warner goes on to say they, “take all allegations seriously and follow all appropriate policies and procedures.”
