ST. ALBANS, WV (WOWK) – The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a bullet was fired through a church door.

According to the KCSO, deputies responded to the area of Brown Community Worship Center in the 1600 block of Dry Ridge Road around noon on Thursday regarding a shots fired call. They say someone called 911 saying someone had shot a bullet through the church’s front door.

Deputies say they found the bullet inside the church. According to the KCSO, while no one was injured, the pastor, his wife and their grandchild were inside an adjoining room cleaning at the time of the incident. Deputies say they were “extremely lucky” to have escaped what could have “otherwise been a tragedy.”

The KCSO says they are looking to question the driver of a white pickup truck that was in the area at the time and has a sticker on the left rear bumper that reads “I carry Naloxone.”

Deputies say they are also asking those in the neighborhood to review their cameras and send any footage they may have of the incident or vehicle to the KCSO through their website here.
