ST. ALBANS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Chesapeake & Ohio Historical Society (C&OHS) will return to the Kanawha Valley, with volunteers greeting the public at the historic St. Albans Depot on the first Saturday of each month.

The depot, preserved by the City of St. Albans, provides a unique opportunity for visitors to experience history with the comfort of genuine air conditioning, regardless of the temperature.

Following the successful promotion of their “warehouse find” books, the C&OHS has doubled its inventory of new-old-stock railroad history books.

These mint-condition, out-of-print books are now available at low prices, aimed at introducing new audiences to American railroad history.

The St. Albans depot has also seen the return of model trains, thanks to the efforts of C&OHS volunteers and local community support.

The progress on the O-scale model train layout and the development of a new interpretive museum have brought new life to this historic structure.

The next event will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, from 10 AM to 2 PM at the St. Albans C&O Depot, located at 400 4th Ave, St. Albans, WV 25177-2829.

Visitors can also explore the neighboring St. Albans Historical Society, making it a perfect day to explore the history of western Kanawha County.

Attendees will have the chance to get answers to their railroading questions, take photos, and hear stories from the C&O Railway to Amtrak, shared by current and retired railroaders.
