SAINT ALBANS, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The Saint Albans Fire Department on Monday shared the astonishing tale of a man who overcame addiction to spread the word of God as a preacher.

The Saint Albans Fire Department recounted the events of a 2019 situation in which a man named Dustin arrived at the Saint Albans Fire Station. The man reportedly said that he had passed the station many times while struggling with addiction and was certain that if he could just get to the station that he would be alright.

Lieutenant Davidson with the SAFD got food for the man and contacted a preacher whose phone number Dustin had given him. Meanwhile, Chief Carney and Lieutenant Collins talked with the man while waiting for the preacher to arrive.

On Monday, Dustin returned to the very same Kanawha County fire station and informed crew members that he had since become a preacher himself, preaching revivals around the country. The man also shared that he is now a successful superintendent employed with an oil company in northern West Virginia.

“He said if The Lord had not led him to the fire station that day where he was treated with respect as a person and with empathy, he has no doubt he would not be alive,” said the SAFD of the encounter. “Please remember, there is always hope! Regardless of your current situation, you can turn your life around and Dustin is living proof of that!”
