Justice calls for additional income tax cuts while celebrating economic achievements
CHARLESTON — While making his last tax revenue report to a packed room of state employees, lawmakers, and supporters, Gov. Jim Justice said Monday he will call lawmakers into an August or September special session to make further cuts to the personal income tax and pass a tax rebate for childcare.

STEPHEN PATRICK CORNWELL, 83 of Barboursville, WV, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2024, and entered the gates of heaven following a brief illness. Pat was born May 24, 1941, in Huntington, WV, to the late WW (Bun) and Alma Blanche Stewart Cornwell. He was preceded in death by his son Stephen Kent Cornwell and a brother, Thomas Michael Cornwell. He is survived by his wife Brenda Johnson Cornwell with whom he celebrated sixty-two years of marriage last November, his daughter, Lisa (Randy) Rhoades of Huntington, WV, his daughter-in-law, Amy Huff of Chesapeake Ohio, four grandchildren, Jared Cornwell, Madison Rhoades, Kelsey Huff, Carson Rhoades, and his brothers David Cornwell of Albion, Indiana and Carroll Cornwell (Virginia) of Salisbury, North Carolina.
