Justice calls for additional income tax cuts while celebrating revenue numbers
CHARLESTON — While making his last tax revenue report to a packed room of state employees, lawmakers, and supporters, Gov. Jim Justice said Monday he will call lawmakers into an August or September special session to make further cuts to the personal income tax and pass a tax rebate for childcare.
Charleston Ballet to conduct 'Nutcracker' auditions
The Charleston Ballet will have auditions for its upcoming, traditional, holiday production of "The Nutcracker" ballet, featuring the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra. Directed by Charleston Ballet Artistic Director Kim R. Pauley, the production is set to be performed on the stage of the Maier Performance Hall at the Clay Center for the Arts & Sciences on Dec. 13 and 14.

Kanawha Board of Education transfers ownership of Marmet Elementary School
The Kanawha County Board of Education on Monday voted to give the 87-year-old Marmet Elementary School to the town of Marmet for free. The decision comes as Marmet Elementary is set to be consolidated into nearby schools starting in the next school year. It’s one of three Kanawha County schools that closed this past school year.

WVSU Foundation Board elects new officers, members
The West Virginia State University Foundation Board of Directors has elected new officers and members for the fiscal year that began July 1. Jennifer Herrald Oakley has been elected Chair of the WVSU Foundation Board and Dr. Sheri Sesay-Tuffour has been elected Vice Chair of the Board. They succeed Dr. Sami Ghareeb, who previously served as Chair, and Matt Coleman, who had served as Vice Chair.
