Total Quality Logistics, a global freight brokerage and logistics firm headquartered in Cincinnati, is opening a new office in Baton Rouge. LSU AgCenter plant pathologist Jong Ham has been investigating how soybean seeds treated with bacterial agents can help soybean plants fight stress. His research is part of a larger study funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) to determine how heat and drought affect soybeans.

The Baton Rouge Police Department said Jamoliddin Tokhirov, 38, was driving the 18-wheeler when it hit the inside guardrail, crossed all lanes of traffic, and hit the outside guardrail before coming to rest.

20-year-old Malayan tiger at Baton Rouge Zoo euthanized
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — An almost 21-year-old Malayan tiger at the BREC Baton Rouge Zoo was euthanized on July 15 after being treated for age-related illnesses. According to Madison Petty, a spokesperson for BREC, Intan was a Malayan tiger born on Dec. 23, 2003, at a zoo in Omaha, Nebraska. He was brought to the Baton Rouge Zoo during the fall season of 2011 as a breeding recommendation and sired a litter of cubs in 2014.
Denham Springs woman accused in COVID-19 relief fraud scheme, indicted by federal grand jury
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A Denham Springs woman accused of being connected to a COVID-19 fund relief scheme was indicted by a federal grand jury. Myaika Gross, of Denham Springs, was a full-time employee of the United States Postal Service during the period of the scheme, according to federal court documents. She was indicted for wire fraud. The federal grand jury also posted a notice of forfeiture.

Over the weekend LSU sophomore cornerback Javien Toviano turned himself into authorities after being accused of video voyeurism. According to the arrest warrant filed by the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, Toviano, 19, is accused of filming sexual encounters with a woman without her consent. The woman told detectives that Toviano had recorded them previously and she did not want to be recorded.
